About The Refuge, A Healing Place
Located in the Ocala National Forest, 90 minutes from Orlando, Tampa, and Gainesville, Florida, The Refuge, A Healing Place is a nationally recognized program that treats addiction, eating disorders, certain mental health disorders, and dual diagnosis. We provide residential and outpatient treatment options, along with medical detoxification, for adults age 18 and older of all genders and specialize in delivering care to clients who have suffered from posttraumatic stress disorder and trauma. We use a combination of evidence-based therapies and experiential approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), narrative exposure therapy, art therapy, adventure therapy, 12-Step programming, somatic experiencing, and skill-building groups.
What Makes The Refuge, A Healing Place Different?
The Refuge, A Healing Place promotes physical, spiritual, and emotional healing through a trauma-focused approach to treatment. Located on 96 wooded acres alongside a small river, our campus is covered with old live oak trees draped with Spanish moss. Birds and wildlife are present everywhere, and the serenity of our location nurtures the soul. Our expert clinicians provide a personalized treatment plan for each client to take advantage of their unique strengths. We believe that there's not one single approach to treating trauma, and we strive to help our clients understand that their behaviors do not define who they are. By helping understand our past, we can learn to focus on a healthier future.
