Our Mission, Vision, & Principles

Acadia Healthcare is a leader in the behavioral healthcare industry, with teams of professionals throughout the country that are committed to providing clinically excellent care, meeting the unique needs of each patient, and working to destigmatize the worldview of mental health and addiction concerns.

Our Purpose

At Acadia Healthcare, we exist to Lead Care With Light®. Our purpose is deeply rooted in the belief that providing treatment goes beyond simply offering a place for people to receive care. We believe that we must provide a welcoming space where patients know that they are seen as unique individuals who deserve to heal and rediscover a beautiful life.

Our name is devised from the dawn that rises over Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. Like the first sunrise in the nation that touches the sky, we shift darkness into a new, brighter day. When people in need bravely ask for help in carrying the weights of their personal lives, they can turn to Acadia.

We illuminate paths to health by offering hope. We are honored to serve alongside passionate people who imbue promise in the work we do and the lives we touch — the lives of our patients, their families, their friends, the broader communities, and one another.

As a connected team that comes together to support each other as we support our patients, we collaborate across the continuum of care to guide progress. People of all ages and cultures who are seeking help for mental health and addiction concerns can find refuge and healing at the facilities within Acadia’s treatment network.

No matter the distance or distinction between the communities we lead, we work together to deliver dynamic, complex, integrated clinical care. And regardless of the role we are playing, we take on the responsibility of nurturing, reforming, and restoring.

Our Values

Our commitment to our patients, our employees, and the communities we serve extends beyond the provision of clinically superior care. We respect and honor each and every individual, and we demonstrate this by showing every patient compassion and treating them with integrity.

We embrace diversity and inclusion. We believe that acknowledging, respecting, and honoring diversity is a significant part of what makes the services we provide so exceptional. Diversity provides an opportunity to learn from the experiences of others, and learning from those experiences helps shape how we deliver treatment, how we define our culture, and how we achieve our business objectives.

At Acadia Healthcare, as we navigate our industry and our nation in an ever-changing world, we remain steadfast in maintaining a culture that encourages sensitivity and supports an understanding of others. This applies to the patients and families we serve, as well as our employees and the partners we work with.

Our commitment to the work we do comes to life through our shared values. These values are the foundation for how we approach the care we provide, the partnerships we form, and the way our employees work together as a cohesive team across our treatment network.

We Set the Standard for Care: We are the leaders in the field of behavioral healthcare. We provide high-quality clinical care through uniquely diverse and specialized treatment services and programs. As experts, we set our goals for positive treatment outcomes higher than the industry standard, ensuring that our work leads to greater societal well-being.

We Lift and Uplift: Each day, we bring encouragement and compassion so that we can fight for those in our care and help them fight for themselves. We carry them through the treatment process and guide them on their path to healing until they are able to stand on their own. We rally together and take pride in the legacies of our care.

We Innovate Quickly To Change Lives: Every aspect of our work calls us to honor our mission of providing compassionate care that improves lives, inspires hope, and elevates communities. We do this with determination to meet the ever-growing needs of the communities we serve. We aim not only to improve but to innovate and invent. We grasp opportunities to problem-solve so that our patients can be successful in reaching their treatment goals.

We Succeed as One: Throughout our treatment network, whether at a facility or in an office, our employees work together to deliver dynamic, complex care for the people and communities we serve. We are one Acadia.

Our Vision

Our overall vision is to double our business to increase access to treatment and drive exceptional treatment outcomes.

One way we are able to achieve our vision is by partnering with respected providers through joint ventures. This allows for the development of new treatment centers throughout the country, giving us the opportunity to increase access to much-needed care in areas that were previously underserved. We also take monumental strides by building new facilities and expanding our existing programs to ensure intentional growth that benefits the needs of communities.

At Acadia Healthcare, we aim to be an indispensable behavioral healthcare provider for high-acuity and complex-needs patient populations by growing facilities, accelerating expansion of care, increasing ease of access to treatment, strengthening the capabilities of our teams, and leveraging technology. We seize opportunities to creatively solve problems to ensure the success of each patient, breaking and gaining ground and discovering different pathways for progress.

We believe that our growth is not for our own good; instead, it is for the good of the people who need true, clinically excellent care. It is to help those who may be struggling to find somewhere to turn in their darkest hours.
